We are looking for someone who will be responsible for collating and managing the organisation’s payroll processes. You will be the point of contact for all payroll related queries.Response is an ever-growing organisation that enables people of all ages to live a more fulfilled life by providing excellent mental health services, housing, and supported living. The HR and L&D team are recruiting for a brand new role, a Payroll Officer, to join our friendly and supportive team to help deliver an excellent payroll service to the organisation.Overall job responsibility – You will be responsible for providing first line payroll advice to the organisation with particular focus on the employee life cycle. Responsible for collating and managing the organisation’s payroll processes, including new starters, leavers, timesheets and additional payments and managing the relationship with the external Payroll Provider. You will be visible throughout the organisation and spend time building relationships with managers and colleagues.Some of the core duties include:
  • Process amendments to the monthly payroll including overtime, on call, sleep ins, bank hours, average holiday pay and absences.
  • Process expenses and mileage payments for employees.
  • Ensure accurate payroll records are maintained and year end returns are submitted.
  • Process P11ds and P60s on an annual basis.
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with the outsourced payroll provider, Moorepay.
  • Continuously strive to improve and streamline the Payroll service by regularly reviewing processes to ensure that they remain effective, efficient and in are in accordance with the needs of the organisation.
  • Administration of pension scheme transactions in accordance with auto-enrolment regulations; liaison with pension providers
  • Maintain the HR System with any system changes required in addition to the maintenance of the back end of the system including workflows and setting up new roles.

  • Clear understanding of payroll laws, taxes and PAYE procedures.
  • Experience of working in a payroll capacity either with in house or outsourced providers
  • Knowledge of economics, accounting and other financial concepts
  • Computer literacy, especially confidence using office and payroll software such as Excel with VLOOKUP
  • Excellent Excel knowledge, including pivot tables and formulas.
  • Familiar with payroll software
  • Experience within a care or mental health settings is desirable, but not essential.
