A leading government organisation are currently looking for an experienced and talented Payroll Manager to join them initially on a 3month temporary contract. This role has arisen due to departmental restructure and has the potential to develop further.
Working closely with Senior management as the successful Payroll Manager you will have direct responsibility for 1 team member as well being the key contact for the outsourced function. Though the processing function is outsourced you will take ownership for the checking and authorising of the final payroll run for the company (900 staff on monthly payroll)
Key Responsibilities
  • Managing third party relations to ensure a more streamline and effective payroll service.
  • Manage the outsourced payroll service to ensure SLA’s are being met whilst maintaining strong relations.
  • Review current processes and procedures as well as being instrumental during the payroll. procurement, assessing if it is more cost effective to bring payroll inhouse or remain external.
  • Oversee any manual transactions including pension schemes and salary sacrifices.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members where necessary.
Key Skills Required
  • Previous payroll management experience is essential ideally within a public sector environment.
  • Experience of dealing with pensions ideally civil service or public sector.
  • Experienced in managing outsourced payroll services.
  • Previous involvement in procurement reviews.
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced environment and to strict deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experienced in MS Office packages (Word, Excel and Outlook)
I am keen to speak to you if you are an experienced Payroll Manager with a passion for payroll and implementing change. Though government or public experience is preferred the client will consider candidates from the private sector.
The role will be working from home initially with all necessary equipment being provided by the client. The role is full time but does offer flexibility.
