Reporting to Public and Community Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PCIEP) Lead, the post-holder will be responsible for leading the PPIE training and resources for public contributors and researchers. Working closely with the PCIEP Lead, they will form part of the leadership for delivering PPIE and increasing its effectiveness within the Oxford BRC.

Building on the Oxford BRC PPIE Strategy (2022-2027) the post-holder will develop and lead action plans to support training and inclusion for researchers and public contributors.

The post-holder will provide inclusive PPIE training to a wide range of public contributors of the public so they are enabled to be meaningfully involved in research. With a particular focus on under-served communities, the post-holder will advise on appropriate training methods and support for people to be fully involved.

The post-holder will work closely with academic researchers who are at all stages of their career to ensure a robust understanding and confidence to embed PPIE in their research. They will include in the training the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and how it applies to PPIE. They will also ensure PPIE materials for researchers are developed and kept up to date.

The postholder is responsible for ensuring that PPIE training is delivered collaboratively with partners. They will maintain and develop links and collaborative working with local partners, including OUH Patient Experience team, NIHR infrastructure across the Thames Valley, other BRCs, public contributors and PPIE groups.

We are looking for an experienced PPIE professional with excellent communication and people skills, someone who is empathetic, confident and with an open mind, experienced in working with senior professionals and the public.

This role offers a great deal of variety and the opportunity to be creative. It is essential the post-holder has a sound knowledge of PPIE, along with experience of working within a research environment as well as with public contributors from diverse backgrounds and communities.
