A specialist secondary school for pupils with SEMH Needs are looking for a Pastoral lead to support pupils across the school.

The Role

As a pastoral lead your role will be to provide pastoral support for pupils through a range of interventions and support outside the classroom. You will carry a case load and offer timetabled support to individual pupils across the school.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • To develop and maintain effective and supportive mentoring relationships with children (including those with complex and challenging needs), parents and those engaged with them
  • To assist staff in identifying pupils needing pastoral support and those who would benefit from mentoring help to overcome barriers to learning; and to provide assessments of their personal, social and emotional needs
  • To manage and be responsible for a caseload of students including those with complex and challenging needs. Innovate and deliver effective, alternative programmes to raise motivation, aspirations and develop positive behaviours.
  • Update and monitor safeguarding concerns liaising with MASH as needed
  • Provide reports for leaders, governors and external services e.g. referral forms for MASH
The school are looking for a learning mentor who has the following:
  • Relevant experience in a school setting
  • An excellent understanding of how to support pupils with social and emotional needs
  • High-level communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and administration skills
The role is offered on a full-time basis. The role will be initially offered as a temporary contract but has the potential to become a permanent role in the school.
