Job description

Your opportunity

Shaping and delivering the performance management and reward portfolio for our partners

Performance Management and Reward plays a critical role in our partners’ experience within the firm. You will drive operational excellence and execution of performance management processes across the annual cycle. You will partner closely with key HR & Business stakeholders, including our executive group.

The primary objective of the Partner Matters team is to deliver a differentiated, integrated experience to all our partners, from the point they become partners in the firm, to the time they retire from the partnership. This role will play a key part in managing one pillar of the team’s core portfolio.

We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is of interest to you, please do discuss with us.

Are you looking to return to the workplace after an extended career break?

For this role we can offer coaching and support designed for returners to refresh your knowledge and skills and help your transition back into the workplace after a career break of 2 years or more. If this is relevant for you, just let your recruiter know when you make your application.

Your role

You will be responsible for planning and implementing the performance management and reward cycles for all partners in the UK geography. This will include continuous enhancement of existing approaches as well as the potential for collaboration with counterparts across North and South Europe (NSE).

Flexibility will be required in the role. As part of a small team you can expect to work across portfolios with other Partner Matters team members in peak times and/or where critical deadlines loom, getting involved where additional capacity and/or expertise is needed.

As a result, this is a terrific opportunity to gain a broad range of operationally critical experience, working in a high-performing team, creating an exceptional experience for the most senior people in our firm.

Some key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Operational management and delivery of the annual partner performance management cycle, focusing on the goal-setting and monitoring phases of the process, ensuring the new People Leader initiative is fully embedded into each of these phases.
  • Work with the Leadership Development team to ensure a clear connection between the performance management cycle and partner development.
  • Design and refresh Equity Partner policies to confirm they meet the needs of our increasingly diverse partnership.
  • Review and update performance management and reward processes and materials to reflect our evolving ambition and continued implementation of inclusion and diversity initiatives across the firm.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving the partner experience while streamlining processes and optimising the use of technology for the performance cycle.
  • Collaborate successfully with a range of other teams who contribute to the end-to-end delivery of this process (Finance, Partner Admin, HR Reward (re: salaried partners), Clients and Industries, Global).
  • Influence others in the Partner Matters team (and beyond) as a role model and exemplar of effective leadership and teaming. Positively contribute to the team brand, culture and purpose.
  • Work with the Partner Matters Strategic Initiative Manager on discrete projects and ad hoc priority areas as and when they emerge in the year, whether they relate directly to the stated portfolio or not.

Your work, your choice

At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.

Location: London

For the duration of the FTC, and as we emerge from the pandemic and consider future ways of working in the team, a non-London based individual would be considered. A level of domestic travel may be needed as and when this is permitted and required.

Work pattern: This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. The role can be worked on a part-time basis, with a minimum of four days (80% presence) a week. Overtime will be required during peak periods and a level of full-time working may be required during the peak of the year end cycle. (May/June).

Your professional experience

In addition to having relevant professional experience for the role as set out above, the individual who is successful will:

  • have proven implementation skills, strong planning and organisational capability and a determination to get things done;
  • have a clear focus on delivering quality in everything you do;
  • be an outstanding collaborator who can build productive relationships across teams and engender trust and support;
  • understand the partnership and how to be successful as an adviser to it, being credible and impactful when interacting and dealing with the firm’s most senior people;
  • have strong analytical skills and be comfortable working with, understanding and presenting information and data;
  • convey professional maturity, instilling confidence that they operate in sensitive environments with ease and handle highly confidential data appropriately;
  • be genuinely resilient, comfortable and composed when working under pressure, accepting of change and be flexible in order to get the job done;
  • be willing to learn, open to feedback and prepared to be challenged;
  • have strong communication skills – verbal and written – demonstrating quality in all that is delivered;
  • have experience in the creation of high-quality formal deliverables (both presentations and reports);
  • demonstrate appropriate commercial acumen and be able to connect that to the role, the agenda, the decisions we make and the relationships that are established;
Desirable
  • understanding of our firm and its structure (internal and market facing) with an awareness of the key features and attributes of our partnership.
