Job Summary

We are an independent Narrow Boat holiday business of 12 boats that include a mixture of holiday and day boats. We also offer servicing and repair to the canal boat community.

We are looking for a Mechanic/Engine Technician to join our busy and professional team. Our core areas of business are Marine engineering, service and repair, engine refit, all carried out on a variety of marine engines, diesel, leisure, electric. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in boats and a proven Mechanical background.

Our Mariana and service centre offers servicing, repairs, storage and a chandlery. The role is this respect is therefore quite varied and can be customer facing at times. Although predominantly engineering based there will be tasks that involve all aspects of customer focus including call outs and face to face interaction.

This is a varied role which will require the following skills and commitment:

  • Proven qualifications and a clear understanding in the fields of mechanical engineering, diagnostics and electrics, ignition and fuel systems
  • Some Knowledge of, and the ability to fit electronic ancillary equipment.
  • Must have the ability to work unsupervised and to a high standard
  • The ability to communicate with colleagues and customers
  • A keen attention to detail and a forward-thinking attitude
  • A full UK driving licence

Schedule:

  • Sunday to Saturday on a rota

Experience:

  • Mechanical engineering: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)

Duties include:

  • Maintaining and repairing fleet of holiday hire and day boats.
  • Answering call outs (potentially after business hours)
  • Servicing and repairing private/share boats.
  • Occasionally aiding in yard duties (Pump outs, coal/gas deliveries, ect.)

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 22.5 - 30 per week

Salary: £10.50-£13.50 per hour
