Haynes Heritage Engineering is part of the Haynes Motor Museum. A world renowned, multi-award winning museum and visitor attraction located in South Somerset.

Haynes Heritage Engineering can trace its roots back to John Haynes OBE, and the iconic Haynes Manuals, founded in 1954.

For more than 35 years, the team have been expertly restoring, servicing and conserving client vehicles alongside the Haynes Motor Museum’s collection of over 400 veteran, vintage and classic vehicles.

Meticulous and highly dedicated engineers offer specialist restoration and servicing skills to an extensive national and international client base. The team deliver the full spectrum of engineering disciplines; from ground up restoration and bodyshop fabrication to mechanical work and a state-of-the-art paintshop.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Paint Technician.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Workshop Manager to provide top level preparation and painting to a wide variety of vehicles.

Who We Are Looking For
You will have a proven record in carrying out high end repair and painting of automotive vehicles.

We are looking for people who are passionate about our industry and our brand. The Haynes brand is a well-respected name in the automotive industry, and you will be carrying on that legacy.

With a practical “hands on” approach, you will be able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively, both within the Paint shop and the wider Workshop in general.

You will have worked in a Paint Shop for 3-5 years, preferably in Classic, Vintage and Veteran Restoration.

This is the ideal time to join the team at the initial foundation stage of the Workshop’s transformation with the exciting opportunity to shape our vision going forwards.

Primary Purpose of the Role
You will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out high level surface preparation prior to painting
  • Spray painting of a broad range of vehicles using our Classic Novol range of products
  • Carrying out final polishing to ensure a high level of finish

Main Duties

  • To carry out to a correct and safe standard, preparation for paint spraying and polishing post spray of a vehicle
  • To keep an accurate account of hours worked, materials used, and work completed
  • To prepare and refinish vehicle body surfaces
  • To keep an accurate check on all paint and materials and ensure any discrepancies are reported
  • To communicate in a polite and effective manner to customers and fellow employees
  • To carry out assessments of vehicles and produce accurate estimates for repairs and paint work

Hours & Structure
The role is full time (40 hours per week) with some evening and weekend work assisting with shows and demonstrations.

You will report directly to the Workshop Manager.

Location Sparkford, Somerset BA22 7LH, just minutes off the A303, the main trunk road to the South West
