Rose of Jericho was established in 1989 and is a leading manufacturer and supplier of materials used for the decoration and repair of traditional and historic buildings along with offering specialist consultancy services. We are a busy, forward-looking business and due to continued expansion, an opportunity has arisen for a motivated Traditional Paint Maker to join our growing team.

As a Traditional Paint Maker you will be a committed, hardworking individual with good attention to detail to join our dedicated production team manufacturing high quality traditional building and decorating materials.

As a Traditional Paint Maker,your main responsibilities will be:

  • To Manufacture hand-made distempers, flat oils, emulsions, oil and water-based eggshells, lime washes and sheltercoats
  • Learning to hand make paints in a wide range of classic, traditional and contemporary colours- all using best quality earth and mineral powder pigments
  • Match colours using traditional methods
  • Weighing and mixing pigments and ingredients, making paint bases and packaging tins for dispatch
  • At times may be required to assist in the mortar yard, and duties may consist of manufacturing lime plasters, renders and mortars, sieving, crushing and bagging aggregates and undertaking other yard duties.
  • Maintain a clean working environment, in accordance to health & safety

ABOUT YOU:

  • Work experience/ relevant studies would be an advantage, however full training will be given
  • To have an interest in traditional buildings, building methods and materials would be an advantage
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good organisation and prioritising skills with flexibility
  • Accurate with attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver and to meet deadlines

About us:

We are fully familiar with the range of issues surrounding the appropriate treatment of older buildings and can advise on, and provide, materials tailored to the needs of individual projects. Our clients include The Royal Household, Historic Royal Palaces, Historic England, many Cathedrals and the Landmark and National Trusts, but the majority of our customers live in and love their cottages, townhouses, farmhouses and manor houses throughout the U.K.

We manufacture a range of traditional limewash and distemper paints, slake lime and mature lime putty, prepare ready-mixed mortars and plasters, and produce graded stone-dusts and various specialist additives. All are suitable for use in older buildings. Our paint colours are also available in modern paint types suitable for use in more recent buildings, and artists quality powder pigments are used in all paints.

We are skilled colourmen and can match most traditional and historic colours. We hold a library of British aggregates and undertake materials analysis and consultancy.
