We are looking for a motivated and talented Optical Development Engineer to join a team of multidisciplinary engineers and scientists working on exciting next-generation optoelectronics custom solutions.

The job opportunity:

As an Optical Development Engineer, you will be joining a multidisciplinary team of bright, enthusiastic and respectful engineers tackling problems across optical, software, electronic and mechanical engineering with access to fully equipped development labs and production facilities.

Working in close-collaboration with our key customers, you will have the opportunity to develop optical and fibre optic components and optoelectronics systems for a variety of customers across several markets.

The successful applicant will:

• Lead/support the development of laser, detector and fibre based optoelectronic devices and systems from initial requirements through to manufacture

• Support the delivery technically complex projects on time and to budget and in line with company processes

• Lead the build and test of sample products or proving and evaluation

• Support the development and implementation of the technology roadmap

• Sourcing appropriate devices for each application

• Support or lead major work packages within customer development programmes

• Develop and build relationships with technical and business experts internally at AFE

• Ensure Health and Safety standards and procedures are followed at all time

• Responsible to ensure documentation is correct and kept up to date

• Build AFE’s reputation as a leader in the field of fibre, optoelectronics and associated systems

• Provide reviews and reports in support of technical activities

• Ensure adherence to Company Policies and Procedures
