Job Purpose:

This is a Supervisory position that will be responsible for managing a production schedule, technicians, and overall performance of designated value stream. You will be responsible for meeting Caterpillar’s goals for People, Quality, Velocity and Cost that support a 24/7 operation.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and improve shop floor safety whilst eliminating unsafe processes and ensuring a safe and clean product environment

  • Must drive safety first culture and is responsible for ensuring that thorough accident and near miss investigations are completed and corrective actions taken, ensuring that all personnel within the area adhere to all safe working practices

  • Should support Team Leads and make necessary resources available to support training within the area

  • Schedule and prioritise constrained resources, and adjust staffing to meet flow and customer requirements

  • Determine and carry out disciplinary action when appropriate

  • Implement, manage, and coach various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS/ISO certification, etc.

  • Ensures the quality of product produced and conforms to Caterpillars Quality Policy while maintaining cost

  • Drive root cause corrective action projects and drive continuous improvement

  • Communicate, update, monitor and audit PQVC (People, Quality, Velocity & Cost) metrics continuously via meetings and walks

  • Responsible for training and development of staff, time keeping, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, and ensuring consistent application of organizational needs

Skills, experience & qualifications you will have:

  • Requires extensive shop floor experience and a mechanical aptitude

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of CPS processes and tools, machine shop operations equipment and processes plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives

  • Extensive years prior experience in strategic planning and supervisory experience

  • Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department

  • Must be proficient with all Microsoft office products Must be willing to work outside of normal work hours including overtime and alternate shifts

  • Previous experience of lean manufacturing

Skills, experiences & qualifications you may have:

  • A college degree or its equivalent experience

  • 6 Sigma Green Belt certification

  • NEBOSH/IOSH qualification or evidence of safety improvements and/or has been a Safety Rep
