We are currently looking for an Operations Manager to join our team based in Dunbar Cement Plant, Scotland.
We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.


Role Responsibility


Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will strategically manage the production operations of the Dunbar plant, ensuring maximum return on investment, driving together for optimum performance, and reaching plant sustainability.


You will ensure that production commitments are met, including quality, volume and costs, in order that we are focused on continuous improvement for the Cement plant.

This role will support and deputise for the Plant Manager and will coach, challenge and manage people to maximise the effectiveness of the teams.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that high safety standards are met, coaching and challenging others to work safely.
  • Manage, develop and coach direct reports
  • Lead and manage change programmes with clear goals, drive and engagement
  • Manage cost and budget
  • Plans for improved manning organisation are adopted, communicated, and operated effectively


The Ideal Candidate


As the successful candidate, you will ideally possess proven experience at the management level gained within Heavy Industry or similar. As well as possess in-depth knowledge of the cement manufacturing process.


The key to your success will be your exceptional communication skills. As an influential and persuasive leader, you will have a successful track record in managing, developing, motivating, and inspiring both direct reports and people in your wider organisation to cultivate strong, engaged, and competent teams.


Specific Requirements;

  • Chemical or Engineering / related Degree is ideal or equivalent
  • IChemE associated – working towards or willing to attain chartered engineer status.
  • CMI Management qualification desirable
  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent would be desirable
