Job summary

The role of the Operations Manager- Nursing is to support the Beacon Board and Senior Leadership Team by providing effective leadership for the Nursing, Social Prescribing and First Contact Physiotherapy Teams.

The post holder will work closely with clinical leads in the planning and implementation of quality care to deliver the PCN priorities. They will support the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients with long term conditions, management and preventative interventions for all patients.

Participate in relevant internal and external working groups, projects, services, and initiatives to provide support, information, and analytical advice to strategic leads within Beacon PCN and our external stakeholders. Advise and focus on long term strategic goals.

The post holder will work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team including GPs, Pharmacists, and Allied Health Professionals to meet the needs of registered patients. You will support clinical quality improvement and development strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities includes:

To support the delivery of a high standard of patient care

To lead and support the leads and teams to ensure the highest standards of care are provided for the patients.

To oversee clinical workforce planning to optimise use of clinical facilities, practitioner time, demographic/geographic requirements, and to satisfy contractual obligations with regards to timely and appropriate health service delivery.

To be responsible for the coordination and delivery of enhanced services delivered by the Nurse, Social Prescribing and Physiotherapy teams.

To support local and national policies related to clinical and educational developments.

To develop the nursing and educational services offered by the PCN. providing operational oversight for the design and implementation of the practices nurse training strategy.

To lead on workforce planning and strategy for the Nursing, Social Prescribing and First Contact Physiotherapy Teams

To develop Nursing, Social Prescribing and First Contact Physiotherapy Teams services ensuring services meet the needs of registered patients.

Manage multiple service areas, ensuring the delivery of key targets within the budgeted resources available. They will also be responsible for the implementation of service improvement and re-design for existing services

Responsible for overall rota management for designated teams and departments

Budget management

To lead and participate in audit appropriate to the role

To be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate.

To undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required.

Must be able to work flexible hours.

Responsible for delivering the key operational and strategic objectives of key services within the organisation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A recognised management qualification or commitment to working towards one or Supervisory management or equivalent experience
  • Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable

  • Continuous professional development

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in the NHS.
  • Demonstrable experience of people management
  • Experience of performance management, including appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary proceduresEvidence of working autonomously and as part of a team
  • Previous experience of managing and developing a teams
  • Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services in General Practice, e.g. GMS/PMS contract, Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of national standards that inform practice (e.g. National Service Frameworks, NICE guidelines etc.)
  • Understanding of equal opportunity and diversity issues
  • Knowledge of PCN Des and ARRS roles in general practice

Desirable

  • Experience of working in Primary Care.
  • Familiar with employment law and employment related legislation
  • Ability to identify determinates on health in the local areas
  • Knowledge of public health issue in the area
  • Knowledge of systems to gain an understanding of the health needs of the PCN population as they relate to primary care
