About Abbeyfield

About Abbeyfield

Operating for over 50 years providing a welcoming home to residents, we’re committed to providing the highest standards of care; we believe that great care starts with great people. And we’re a charity, meaning that the interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do, not shareholders.

The Role

Your principal responsibility will be to oversee the operation of the home optimising the quality of service and lived experience to the residents in accordance with the mission and values of the Society including equality and diversity. You will provide direction & support to the staff and volunteers and maintain links with the local community.

As their onsite representative, the Trustees will rely upon you to maintain direct regular individual contact with residents, responding to their views & concerns; and, encouraging participation in the life of the house. You will support the trustees by monitoring and controlling expenditure; arranging and calling meetings (providing reports and papers as required and producing timely minutes), and be the primary point of contact with Abbeyfield (England) who provide support.

About You

It is essential that you are empathetic with older people and are a leader who can manage a small team who can mix with people at all levels. A self-starter, you are flexible and resilient and can communicate well both orally and in writing – a good sense of humour will certainly be an advantage.

You will be computer literate, able to keep track of basic accounts and familiar with basic employment principles and health and safety requirements.

Rewards & Benefits

A competitive salary we are committed to paying staff fairly and treating them well. You will be paid for 20 days holidays pa plus public holidays. Although you will be leading a small team in Tiverton, as part of the national society Abbeyfield (England) you will be supported by their resources and have the opportunity to network with people in similar roles. We provide an auto enrolment pension scheme through NEST.

A Great Place to Work

Located adjacent to St Paul’s Church with free parking on site Duffield House is easily accessed by public transport near the centre of Tiverton. The staff and trustees work closely together and you will quickly become part of a close knit team.
