The Role

Reporting to the IT Manager, you will support with the IT infrastructure, strategy and implementation across the warehouse. You will play an essential role in developing and strengthening the warehouse’s processes, efficiency and stability. Not only will you be responsible for executing strategy as directed but pushing forward new initiatives and ideas are encouraged.


Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role and you should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users. Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently and provide concise user guides for all platforms and developments going forwards.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Coordinate installations, upgrades, and maintenance of hardware and networks
  • Ensuring compliance with all health & safety regulations
  • Identify new opportunities for hardware and software needs within the business
  • WMS systems knowledge
  • Warehousing and logistics background
  • Have knowledge of architecture processes and performance reports of Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Ability to review and improve disaster recover and continuity processes
  • Providing 1st line support for all issues raised to the control room/Operation Manager and escalating mechanical breakdowns
  • Understand and interpret all warehouse management systems in order to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure all IT policies are regularly updated and shared with the wider business
  • Install/integrate and configure software solutions
  • Liaising planned system deployments (software updates) to all affected teams and making sure the system is handed over in a correct state
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure
  • Overseeing asset and user control management
  • Troubleshoot 2nd/3rd Line issues and outages across hardware and software
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Oversee implementation of an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages in advance and negotiate orders
  • Work closely with all internal teams & external agencies to maintain and improve systems and processes
  • Manage and improve current 365/SharePoint usage within the business
  • (WMS), monitoring progress and alerts and escalating issues to the senior systems controller with recommended solutions when required
  • Monitor and escalate error messages, issues identified via CCTV and utilise 3rd party support networks to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the day-to-day operation

About You

  • Previous experience in a warehouse and/or manufacturing setting
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment
  • Highly organised, experienced in working under pressure and multi-tasking
  • Ability to work accurately and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Computer literate – with demonstratable experience of WMS, WCS and other Logistics systems including Microsoft office applications (excel, word, PowerPoint)
