Onsite position - Oldbury, UK

Job overview:

Reporting to the Operations Manager the position interacts closely with and also takes direction from the Production Unit Managers and Capital and Process Engineering Manager.

Primary areas of responsibility will be:

● ensure processes are in compliance with Solvay, COMAH and UK HSE requirements

● provide technical support on the processes to ensure production targets are met

● lead process and quality improvement activities to drive a culture of continuous improvement

● provide support to assure the systems and documentation are standardized, organized, and are maintained current and up-to-date

Achieving these responsibilities will include carrying out the following activities:

● provide assistance and troubleshooting support to the plants to meet productivity and quality goals

● establish, track and maintain process metrics and data such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), cycle time, and yield to identify and understand losses and develop and implement improvement plans

● carry out root cause analysis of quality non-conformance and implement corrective actions

● manage the Management of Change process within the Operations Department

● ensure key documentation (operating instructions, safety addendum, quality addendum, batch sheets, etc.) is accurate and up-to-date

● ensure P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) are current and accurately reflect the installation

● lead and contribute to Process Hazard Analysis and HAZID processes

● identify and provide justification for improvement projects for inclusion in the site capital plan

● champion new tools and techniques to improve HSE, quality, and efficiency within the site

● participate in and support the process design team with introduction of new products and processes

● mentor placement students on assignment within the MDG or Operations departments

Education and experience:

As a minimum, will be qualified to degree standard in Chemical Engineering. A qualification in Health and Safety (IOSH/NEBOSH) would also be desirable along with a knowledge of LEAN management concepts. Experience within a chemical manufacturing company preferred.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with strong initiative and drive to succeed. With excellent interpersonal skills you will be able to work effectively in a team and on your own initiative, have good problem solving and analytical skills.
