Job Profile

As a Theatre Assistant you will assist in the provision of quality planned care for patients during the peri-operative phase of care.

  • Job Location:This role is located at our main hospital site in London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).
  • Job Type:This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Sunday. We operate a mixed shift pattern - Earlies, Lates & Twilight shifts.
  • Salary: £20,638 - £22,394 per annum, and the salary will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect patients from the ward area, and assist colleagues in theatre with the safe transfer and positioning of the patient on the operating table.
  • Assist in the transfer of the patient back to the ward or other departments, supporting colleagues as necessary.
  • Participate in the preparation of the post-operative area, ensuring transfer trolleys are clean, and in working order so that they are ready for use, as well as collecting equipment and preparing theatre for the day.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning of the operating theatre and ensuring the theatre complex is clean and free of potential hazards.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment and ensure any accidents or complaints are fully documented and that the appropriate manager is informed.
  • Monitor consumable items within the department, replenish as required, and liaise with the appropriate staff regarding re-ordering.

Skills & Experience

  • A basic understanding of the operating department and the role of the Theatre Assistant.
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital environment and theatre department would be desirable.
  • Experience of delivering superior and efficient customer service.
  • Basic standard of general education with proven literacy, oral communication and numeracy skills.
  • Professional attitude with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and cope in sensitive and challenging situations.
