OverviewThis position is a member of the Oxford Diagnostic Laboratory Team and is specifically responsible for conducting the routine testing service offered by Oxford Immunotec to aid UK based laboratories and clinicians in the diagnosis of Sars-Cov 2 infection and the latent TB infection and TB disease. ODL uses the T‑SPOT. TB assay and T-SPOT. COVID test and results are provided within two working days of receipt of sample. This position will mainly be focusing on COVID processing initially and will be a fixed term contract of 6 months. We currently have two openings for this.
Responsibilities
- With significant direction from an ODL Technician II/Scientist I to take responsibility for preparing and conducting of T-SPOT.TB assay on customer samples and operate as a scientist in ODL routine testing, ensuring that the Quality Management System, including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003, and ISO 17025:2005, is adhered to at all times and in all aspects of the job
- Ensuring that work is completed to agreed timelines within both the lab and servicing customer services and raise any concerns with timing to the Technician II.
- Ensuring that any likely delays or any issues with allocated work is communicated to the ODL Supervisor in a timely manner.
- With significant input from the Technician II/Scientist I, prioritise workload to ensure key objectives agreed with and are met on time.
- Performing duties in other departments, on an occasional basis to meet critical Company objectives as required.
- Achieve competency in the assay testing - both manual and automated processing.
- The role will require flexible working on Saturdays and Sundays.

Desirable Technical skills and abilities
- An understanding of the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries
- Familiarity with Quality System concepts and requirements including GMP and ISO systems.
- Knowledge of Windows and Office bases applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- ‘A’ Level or equivalent preferably in a life sciences discipline
- Ability to organise and prioritise work loads
- Previous work experience, ideally in a customer service environment
- Capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time.
- Capable of working effectively in a team environment.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
