Job Overview

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic Occupational Therapy team in Older Adult Mental Health services.

We are looking for a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills, dedicated to providing outstanding, patient focused care as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will have previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist, ideally with individuals living with mental health conditions.

The vacancy is based in the Community Older Persons Mental Health Team in Gwynedd.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy lead assessments, working alongside a multidisciplinary team in an Older Persons Mental Health service. You will be reporting to the Older Persons Mental Health OT Team Lead.

You will be involved in completing comprehensive assessments and interventions for people living with dementia. This will help towards ensuring a holistic and person centred approach to patient care. As an Occupational Therapist you will be aiming to ensure that those living with dementia have their safety and independence maximised. You will be completing assessments and interventions mainly within service users’ homes and in the community.

The team has a strong commitment to CPD and service development and you will be well supported as the role develops.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration

Desirable criteria

  • Short courses at post graduate diploma level.
  • Short courses at post graduate diploma level.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant post graduate experience

Desirable criteria

  • Broad band 5 rotational experience.

Aptitude and ability

Essential Criteria

  • Evidence of working independently/ level of supervision relevant to experience.

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to speak Welsh
