About the nursery

Tops Lymington is a beautiful, quaint nursery situated within the All Saints Church Hall. Employees benefit from being minutes away from Lymington High Street and the picturesque Lymington Quay. There are also convenient transport links for both buses and trains!

The 50 place nursery is surrounded by the New Forest, offering opportunities for the children to explore the parks and woods nearby! The nursery run a number of extra-curricular activities including Tops Forest School, cooking school, Boogie Mites, yoga, meditation and much more!

We also offer a free shuttle bus from Brockenhurst train station or New Milton train station.

About You

As a Room Manager at one of our nurseries, you will be responsible for the overall management within your room, therefore we are looking for someone who has strong leadership skills and experience, who can deliver great role model behaviours, whilst contributing to achieve outstanding inspection results.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a full and relevant Early Years qualification at least Level 3 or above
  • Have proven experience in managing a unit within a similar setting
  • Be an exceptional mentor and early year’s practitioner
  • Have a solid knowledge of the EYFS
  • Have an up-to-date Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene
  • Be able to build brilliant working relationships to ensure common goals can be achieved
  • Need a clear and valid DBS – We can run a DBS check if you do not currently have one on the update service
  • Be flexible with start and finishing times
  • Have impeccable interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively to colleagues of all levels of seniority

As part of your professional development we expect all colleagues to undertake and continue their training once they have joined Tops. Undergoing a relevant qualification to your position is paramount in order to broaden your knowledge and build upon your skills to help you in your role. Therefore as a Room Manager we would support you in doing your Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification.

Your Responsibilities and Duties will involve:

  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly checks in the room and agreed action plans are completed effectively
  • Ensuring accident trends are monitored and actioned appropriately
  • Lead and manage your team and ensure they are motivated and trained as per their individual needs, ensuring this meets the needs of the unit.
  • Manage resources, organise routines and systems, communicate with senior management team
  • Be competent and effective with settling in profiles for children, alongside their short term, medium term and long term plans, and next steps and learning journeys.
  • To be committed to the safeguarding of all children in the nursery and your direct care
