4. Responsible to: Nursery Manager

5. Job Purpose

We’re looking for a passionate level 3 (or above) nursery practitioner to form part of our existing Childcare team to provide service delivery within the requirements of the early years foundation stage framework. The role involves working with children from birth to 5 years, providing physical and emotional care in our learning environments. You will be providing high standards of care to all children attending our setting. Working as part of a team you will be expected to provide a safe and caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of all children through individual attention and group activities.

6. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Support for Children

1. To contribute to a programme of activities and planning which allow children access to the full curriculum suitable to the age range of children in your room in conjunction with the room lead/nursery officer
2. Share a responsibility for safety, health and welfare of children at all times.
3. Relate well to all children
4. Supervise and support children accessing activities throughout the room
5. Observing and assessing children’s development and progress made.
6. To participate in the key worker system and engage with parents, informing them of how their child’s routine and progress throughout the day.
7. To adhere to the Safeguarding and Welfare requirements as informed by Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage.
8. To help supervise and serve children’s meals at lunch time, and have a sound knowledge of a healthy balanced diet.

Support for staff

9. To attend all meetings, training activity planning etc, if necessary after nursery hours.
10. To be flexible within working practices of the nursery, to be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.
11. To establish good working relationships with staff, parents, the wider community and other agencies
12. Organising materials and equipment for use within the nursery.
13. Sharing responsibility for care and maintenance or resources and equipment
14. Assisting in preparation and cleaning up of activities and encouraging children to help
15. Sharing responsibility for display
16. Contributing to curriculum development ensuring a stimulating environment
17. Taking responsibility for specific activities already planned for
18. Attend weekly staff and planning meetings

Support for parents

19. Encourage parents and carers to be involved in the setting and their children’s learning
20. Establish good relationships with parents and carers
21. Build up a trusting relationship with parents/carers of key worker group
