Salary: £22.40 an hour
Holidays: 7 weeks (pro rata)
Hours: Min. of 4 hours a day - 9a.m to 1p.m with some flexibility (Mon.-Fri.)

Role: *The primary role of the 1:1 will be to work with the child five mornings each week in nursery starting from September 2023. The candidate will be led and supported by the current Behavioural Consultant who is running the program for the child, as well as following the daily structure of the nursery and guidance of the manager and SENCO. The candidate will be employed by the nursery.
The candidate will also work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside a Speech and Language Therapist and as mentioned, the Behaviour Consultant. More specifically, the role will be to support the child’s social interaction, communication and learning, and in turn promoting the child’s independence and inclusion, with the end result being eventually fading the support in the right time.
The ideal candidate would possibly be someone with a behavioural background and/or very interested in that field. This is an excellent role for those who would like to develop skills and exposure to early interventions for children with developmental delays and disorders. The selected candidate will be required to start asap for as long as the child is in nursery’s care.
Skills:The ideal candidate will be:

  • A firm, fair, clear and a talented communicator, able to prompt a pupil with few clear words or even a gesture, at the right moment.
  • Willing to learn more about supporting children with positive behavioural strategies.
  • To make or modify resources as suggested and advised by the Behavioural Consultant
  • Able to help support social and emotional skills, with a knowing of when to step back to promote independence.
  • Able to help promote positive play skills and work intuitively to guide and encourage the child with regular and specific praise.
  • Happy to work under the guidance and support of the current program Behavioural Consultant and Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Comfortable reporting back to parents, teachers, and program consultants via a structured format as well as via phone calls/regular meetings.
  • Able to regularly remind the child of appropriate behaviour as well as a model for both child and parents to facilitate communication and interaction.
  • Able to routinely recognise and reward positive behaviour and utilise positive teaching techniques such as visuals and specific praise/appropriate reward.

Duties

  • Attend five mornings each week at nursery.
  • Work 1-1 with the child within the nursery educational framework and routine.
  • Implement Behavioural and Speech and Language strategies within the nursery environment.
  • Report to the Behavioural Consultant on the child’s progress and development.
