If the answer is yes, then Endoscopy could be the opportunity for you. The Endoscopy Unit is a busy, fast paced service which is expanding and opening a pre assessment service. We are passionate about ensuring we deliver brilliant care for our patients whilst improving our service and developing our brilliant staff as part of this.

We are now recruiting, enthusiastic and motivated registered Band 4 Nursing Associates who are keen to enhance their skills and knowledge in a specialised area. Care provided is patient centred and encapsulates our Trust values: care and compassion, Working together, trust and respect, Inspiration and innovation and pride and achievement.

The service provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to inpatients and outpatients. Procedures include upper and lower GI, bronchoscopy, ERCP and other specialty procedures. This is a seven day service and provides an out of hour’s emergency support.

Specific Duties Will Include

The Nursing Associate is a new role for us and we would like you involved in all aspects of Endoscopy.

BAND 4 ENDOSCOPY SPECIFIC
  • To be part of the new pre assessment service.
  • To gain the clinical skills and knowledge to competently admit a patient who requires an endoscopic procedure.
  • To gain the clinical skills and knowledge to competently undertake the airway management of a sedated and non-sedated patient undergoing an endoscopic procedure.
  • To gain the clinical skills and knowledge to competently Recover and Discharge a patient who has undergone an endoscopic procedure with or without sedation
  • To gain the clinical skills and knowledge to competently assist colleagues with non-therapeutic and therapeutic Endoscopic procedures.
  • To gain the clinical skills and knowledge to competently support colleagues in the treatment and management of a patient with a Gastrointestinal Bleed on the out of hours rota.
Working hours will be variable to cover the needs of the unit. Once deemed competent you will be required to work on call and within our satellite service at West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance. If this opportunity appeals to you there are full and part time positions available. No previous experience in Endoscopy is required as full training will be given. Support is also offered to those with previous Endoscopy experience looking to further develop their career in this exciting and expanding service.

This role is full time 37.5 hours per week.
