The Position

AFRY offers a challenging career path in one of the world’s leading energy industry consultants.

The opportunity exists for a Graduate Scientist/Engineer to join an expanding team of specialists in AFRY’s Nuclear Business Unit in the Southwest of England to assist with the development and implementation of a variety of projects in nuclear safety and reliability services for a wide range of domestic and international clients.

Under the supervision of experienced team members, you will develop your skills and contribute to projects in the following areas:
  • Hazard Identification techniques
  • Safety and Hazard Analysis
  • Quantified Risk Assessment
  • Engineering design substantiation
  • Option studies
  • Plant and Site licensing
  • Safety case documentation production, review and update

When ready you may also work directly with client organisations.

Your potential will be developed by a combination of structured training and hands on experience, and there is the prospect of responsibility at an early stage. Assistance will be provided in support of achieving professional qualifications.

Qualifications
  • A good Batchelor’s or Master’s Science or Engineering degree in a relevant STEM subject.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Due to the sensitive classification of the work this position is only available to British nationals.

Depending on experience, the candidate should also be able to demonstrate the following:
  • An interest in the nuclear sector
  • Strong oral communication skills, to assist working within project teams and for liaison with clients.
  • Strong written communication skills for input to reports, studies, proposals and specifications.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of different roles.
  • Willingness to work away from home office on UK projects for extended periods of time or abroad involving short stays.

Additional Candidate Requirements

Nuclear project experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
