MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is your opportunity to become a key member in a team advising clients on some of the highest profile construction and regeneration projects in the UK.

You will provide support to a diverse client base that includes developers, investors, corporate occupiers and government bodies, with the role focusing principally on advising on real estate development projects, although there would also be opportunities to work on infrastructure and energy projects if those areas interested you.

You will advise clients on the full range of construction documentation, including appointments, all major standard forms of construction contract, development management agreements and the associated bonds, guarantees and warranties, as well as supporting real estate, finance and corporate colleagues on the wider transaction documents. You will also advise on procurement, contract selection, risk management and other arrangements, such as partnering and frameworks.

ABOUT YOU

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 3 and 5 years’ PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role.

  • Solicitor or Barrister, ideally qualified in England & Wales or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
  • All aspects of contract drafting and negotiation including all the major standard forms of contract including JCT, NEC, ICE, FIDIC and IChemE.
  • Experience working across a variety of sectors
  • Commercially astute and stay current on key legal and business news
  • Excellent skills in communication, client relations, and team-working
  • Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients
  • Understands positive client support
  • Creates confidence in the team and the firm
  • Recognises and seizes opportunities for the firm, including repeat business
  • Builds and develops own network of internal and external contacts
  • Awareness of business development initiatives in the department and identifies ways to contribute
  • Maintains a controlled, objective and flexible approach under pressure
  • Proactive and innovative
