Posted on 13/01/2023 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at Gatehouse Vets, Allerton! The role includes care of inpatients and maintaining nursing standards, reporting to the duty vet of any changes or updates, administering medications/care of feeding tubes/ IV maintenance etc. With a varied caseload and large CPD budget this role may be suited to an RVN who wishes to add to their skill set, wishes to work towards a certificate or needs a break from routine procedures. The successful candidate will work a 3-week rotation of 7 nights on 7 nights off followed by 5 week day shifts but we would consider 4 nights on, 4 nights off or 7 nights on 14 off and would be able to offer some day shifts. We are also happy to discuss other variable shift patterns should this role be of interest to you. Salary for this role is up up to £32,000 depending on experience. Part time options also available About Us We are a well-established tier 3 Hospital and RCVS training practice set on the edge of the Yorkshire dales and Bronte country with good travel networks and rail systems. We are an ISFM Gold cat friendly certificate holder and silver rabbit care certificate holder with separate cat, dog, and exotic wards. Deemed as outstanding in several RCVS awards, we offer 24-hour in-patient care to the highest standard. About the Team and Culture We have a great team consisting of 8 vets, 11 RVNs, 4 students, 2 VCA s and 14 support staff. We are a friendly, supportive, and efficient team but don’t just take our word for it below is a direct quote from a locum who worked with us recently: ’My locum placement starts at the newly refurbished and extended clinic in Bingley where I meet Terry Croud, a towering, but very kind and gentle man, who, as one realizes very fast, is adored, and worshipped by many pet owners in the region and beyond. He is without doubt one of the dying breeds of what can be called a "Veterinary Personality" and once again I find myself re-assured about my resolve of stepping away from my own clinic 2 years ago to hit the road: without this decision I would never have had the opportunity of working together in a team with this great man. Although the new facilities are admittedly impressive, with new stainless-steel cages and the smell of fresh paint still in the air, the real revelation for me is the nursing team. When I entered the surgical department on Monday morning, the white board was packed with cases, and I realized with some unease that I was also expected to do a full block of consultations in the afternoon. However, I shouldn’t have worried: Chantelle the head nurse and her team had it all covered. patients were admitted, checked, pre-medicated and prepared for surgery in a smooth-running operation and the same applied to their aftercare and in most cases for the pricing up and for the writing of notes. There was an excellent flow of communication and because of this, the thought put into cases was impressive, but at no point at the cost of the level of care for the patients’ hold regular team building events including annual treasure hunts and weekends away alongside Christmas parties and congress opportunities. Applicant Requirements Hard working, excellent communicator, reliable, trustworthy person with a focus on teamwork. It is a requirement that you are registered with the RCVS or eligible to register.
