Overview Of The Role

The client is looking for a full-time Night Housing Support Worker, based in Nuneaton to work with their service users who are at risk of homelessness. You will provide support to those who are in need, to try and access the appropriate benefits and help with their tenancy. You will be working in their supported accommodation service, alongside a team of Support Workers and Floating Support Workers, to improve the lives of young people aged 16 to 25. As you are the night service, you will be the only staff member on site, and you will provide activities for service users, a cooking evening, movie night, support sessions, or other activities. If circumstances arise, as you will be lone working, you will have to complete emergency referrals if someone should come in during the evening, however, you will be given excellent training. In case of other emergency events, call emergency services, rather than tackle issues directly which are out of your control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing general practical and emotional support to people in the service in
  • Order to promote their independence and recovery
  • Responding appropriately to chaotic and challenging behaviour to promote the
  • Wellbeing of people in the service and staff
  • Providing support to those at risk of homelessness
  • Providing an effective and responsive supportive service
  • Liaise with referral teams/agencies regarding vacancies and referrals
  • Ensuring the office is clean and tidy
Required Skills, Experience, & Knowledge
  • At least 6 months’ experience supporting youths or young adults who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless
  • You need to be resilient, as some service users will be vulnerable and will have challenging behaviour, and other complex needs
  • Computer literate, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
