Department: Newborn Hearing Screening ProgrammeBand: 3Salary:£21,730 to £23,177 pro rataHours: 26 hours – 6.30hr shifts, 4 days each week all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible workingOur level 2 Neonatal Unit at Milton Keynes currently cares for approximately 400 infants per year with a variety of neonatal medical problems in Intensive, High Dependency, Special Care and Outreach.Our screening team currently consists of 4 Newborn hearing screeners, one senior screener and one local manager who work effectively as a team and who liaise with Audiologists and a variety of support staff within the trust.The post requires being able to work well as part of a team and also on your own initiative. You must be methodical and well organised, and it is essential for you to be able to prioritise your own workload to ensure that all babies are offered a screen. You must be able to remain calm when under pressure as you may be required to cover busy postnatal wards and clinics alone.   • Provide clinical and managerial leadership on the unit
  • Link closely with the multidisciplinary team within the hospital and within the BLMK LMNS and Thames Valley & Wessex ODN.
  • Ensure that action is taken within the unit to empower Nurses in providing demonstrably high standards of care in a clean and safe environment
  • Act as a champion for quality and equality of standards and patient care within the unit.
  • Be responsible for policy development, implementation, monitoring, education and audit.
  • Develop the neonatal service as required
  • Be willing to develop HR and budgetary management skills

  • Articulate, with highly developed communication skills
  • Sound judgement and reasoning when responding to stakeholders
