SummaryWe are looking for an enthusiastic professional with a “can do” attitude who can follow legal procedures and who has highways management experience, knowledge of Street Works and Traffic Management legislation and network management principles to join our friendly, inclusive and supportive existing team.

In June 2020, Wiltshire Council introduced a new way of managing works on its highway network that opens an exciting opportunity to join a young team and shape the way Wiltshire’s network is managed through the introduction of Wiltshire’s Highways Permit Scheme.
About The Role
The role will include working in one of three coordination areas with responsibilities including managing all works permits in a defined geographical area and coordinating all works and activities to ensure the disruption on the highway network is minimised. Working under the supervision of a Network Coordinator and alongside the wider team challenging working methods and traffic management solution and dealing the urgent defects phoned in by the site-based Street works Technicians.
About You
You will also be a confident communicator with good customer service skills. As part of this team, which is very legislatively driven, you will need to be able to follow legal processes accurately, be a great team player, with excellent IT skills and be able to prioritise and multitask.
You will be part of a team that wants to enhance the reputation of the Council, you will take pride in delivering the service and making a difference to our customers.
We will look to you to be able to self-manage complex and sometimes contentious issues without the need to escalate. You must have proven ability to work under pressure, managing conflicting priorities and the ability to make clear decisions on conflicting issues and deliver these decisions clearly.
Ability to demonstrate good conflict management techniques in high pressure situations in a diplomatic way.
