Network Engineer

We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Network team. In this role, you as the Network Engineer, will provide excellent technical support, acting as the final point of escalation for the service desk for all Network related incidents and service requests and taking ownership of these problems through to resolution.

You will take ownership of assigned Networking projects, including planning, and implementing them to a high standard and to deliver internal training when required; You will act as an excellent role model to 1st and 2nd line members of the team, and deliver training on occasion.

Network Engineer package -

• Base salary of £35,000 - £40,000

Duties and Responsibilities –

Client Support (50%)

• Escalation for the service desk of client issues they are unable to resolve.

Internal Projects and Monitoring (45%)

• Resolving monitoring issues for our internal Infrastructure
• Ensuring core networking and hosting platform performing optimal levels
• Work on internal networking platform projects for maintenance, expansion, and upgrades.
• Take ownership of internal projects to assist the Head of Infrastructure and networks in project delivery.

Deliver Internal Training (5%)

• Deliver internal training to other departments as required.
• Mentor non senior engineers to develop skills and knowledge.

To be successful in this role, you have the following -

Qualification

• Hold at least one or more Cisco or Juniper certifications at “Associate” level.

Experience

• Extensive experience of Juniper and Cisco routing and switching.
• Proven experience of planning and implementing networking projects.
• Experience working with BGP in an ISP environment.
• Experience working in an MPLS environment L2/L3 VPN.
• Experience working with Unified Communications (VIOP)
• Experience working with monitoring SIEM systems, eg. SolarWinds, Nagios, Splunk etc.
• Experience in working with ticket systems and an understanding of priorities and SLA’s.

Skills

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to be able to establish and develop positive relationships.
• Ability to create technical and user documentation with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective diagnostic fault finding and monitoring skills.
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage and prioritize their workload.

An enthusiasm for new technology with an interest in learning about new trends and technology and how they can be applied at a practical level would be advantageous.
