The role

This role sits within Energy Saving Trust’s Insight and Evaluation team, reporting into the Evaluation Manager. In this role you have the opportunity to be part of Energy Saving Trust’s fast-growing and exciting consultancy services. You will have a chance to develop and learn from colleagues with as much as 20+ years of experience in this area. With a renewed focus on net zero after COP26, many businesses and public sector organisations are putting emission reductions at the front of their agendas. You will help these clients aim high and achieve success in their ambitions.

What you’ll do

You will work on Energy Saving Trust’s A-Z programme of net zero consulting for our diverse clients, delivered via an online hub. This will include calculation and reporting of corporate emissions (scope 1, 2 & 3) as well as delivering net zero plans in line with science-based targets, conducting emission projections, building visual data dashboards, creating project planning dashboards, and providing other outputs to help clients align to a net zero trajectory, all through our suite of cloud-based tools.

You will support clients in several sectors, including retail, finance, services & consultancy, software services, public sector, and many others. Delivering emission reductions is a critical part of the Energy Saving Trust’s mission and data underpins all informed decision-making by the organization. Based on the strong credentials of trust, knowledge and impartiality, we use evidence to identify and quantify emissions and make recommendations for reductions.

You will have the opportunity to write and deliver net zero plans in alignment with science-based targets and support clients in implementing them as well as supporting the ongoing development of the service, whether that involves data model improvements, user interface, processes, new products or otherwise.

What you’ll bring

  • Alongside demonstrable experience in calculating complete scope 1, scope 2 and scope 3 emission inventories you’ll bring expertise in implementing the complete GHG Protocol for Corporate Emissions Accounting & Reporting to provide a net zero consulting service to prospective and new clients.
  • An ability to process to data into meaningful insights coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to work with clients, positively influence as well as inform in order to deliver the client services required.
  • The knowledge of how to calculate carbon emissions and present them via visual data dashboards, carry out scenario projection calculations, and hold training sessions on carbon literacy.
  • Excellent computer and data skills – experience working with business intelligence software (ideally Power BI), including ability to build data models. Expertise in Excel, including power query, complex and nested formulae, pivot tables, macros etc.

This is a permanent position. We are open to flexible working patterns and blended (home and office-based) working is possible for this role.
