The home of Scotland’s largest herd of Water Buffalo and the first producers of Scottish Buffalo Mozzarella. The Buffalo Farm is a well-recognised growing brand in the Scottish Food Industry. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a committed and passionate team as a National Business Development Manager.

The Role -

As part of the leadership team, you will be Responsible for delivering sales and margin growth targets through all routes to market for Buffalo dairy and meat products. Forecast, agree and achieve sales revenue and margin targets for the company’s portfolio of existing customers as well as identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.

Main responsibilities –

Forecast sales and margin targets as part of the business planning process with the leadership team in line with the company’s overall strategy.

Build your own pipeline of high value new business opportunities for the Buffalo Farm Dairy and meat products, to meet or exceed set sales and gross margin targets.

Own and manage the entire sales process end to end, taking ownership of all aspects from lead generation to drafting compelling proposals to negotiating trading agreements.

Develop and manage 1 x Sales Manager to effectively deliver on the retention and growth of our account base (direct and indirect through our partner distributors)

Drive New Product Development involving appropriate team members -:

  • Research, suggest and develop new product offerings for dairy based products on industry knowledge, market trends and customer feedback.
  • Research, suggest and pursue where appropriate high volume opportunities for Buffalo meat products through third party production / supply.

Present value-add solutions and compelling responses to tenders and customer requests – from understanding client’s situation through to pricing.

Deliver on set KPI targets to track the effectiveness of customer acquisition and retention and The Buffalo Farms performance in terms of delivery, service, and competitiveness.

To grow business through promotional and sales events, such as trade shows and appropriate markets.

Develop and deliver on short- and long-term sales plans in order to gain, retain and grow the client base.

Negotiation of customer agreements including -: listings, distribution, pricing, promotions, incentives, and trading terms with accounts.

Communicate effectively internally ensuring timely delivery of scheduled and ad hoc reports to the business, and provision of frequent updates and forecast reviews of significant activities.

Work positively with the driven and passionate wider team, liaising with and supporting colleagues in their tasks to meet The Buffalo Farms brand expectations, values and behaviours.

Understand the needs of our account customers and develop ways to review and continuously improve the service provided.

Applicants will be expected to / must have :

· Strong sales background with a sound understanding of our range of dairy products, but an excellent understanding of food retail overall is a must.

· Experience in sales through all customer streams from small local suppliers to large multiples and be able to extract the best value from all routes.

· Understand our Brand and be passionate in what we offer

· Be able to interpret and analyse data in order to convert into insights and actions.

· Be a team player who enjoys meeting and working with different people from around the business

· Located within the East Central Scotland area, who can easily and regularly commute to our sites in the KY2 postcode; and

· Love good food!

About The Buffalo Farm

The Buffalo Farm, established in 2005 by owner Steve Mitchell, is a thriving well known butchery brand based in central Fife.

After successfully raising over £800,000 through a unique crowdfunding campaign, the purpose built dairy factory and parlour was opened in 2020 adding Buffalo Dairy products to its range The Buffalo Farm became the first and only producer of Buffalo Mozzarella and Ice Cream in Scotland.

Incorporating these products into its already established business for meat sales through an established retail website, three butcher shops and a destination café. The customer base comprises an ever-expanding portfolio of restaurants, hotels, farm shops and supermarket customers.

Our products have won many awards including 3 great taste awards, and Scottish Food and Drink, Meat Supplier of the year 2017.
