Multi skilled Maintenance Engineer Electrical/mechanical

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Maintenance Engineer ,preferably with Electrical bias, to work for a market leading manufacturing company based in Gloucestershire. The Maintenance Engineer is a crucial part of the Company and is responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and quality driven manner that provides the best possible service. Working closely with the Factory and Production Managers, the Maintenance Engineer will be expected to directly manage his own workload, and ensure they set an example by upholding all company values and health & safety practices.

The Role will involve:

  • The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep of all the company’s buildings and fittings.

  • Ensure all machines are running safely and that all guarding is both working and in place.

  • Ensure that all machines and ancillaries are in good working order and up to date with service requirements.

  • Communicate queries and problems reporting out via email and red flag as soon as possible.

  • Practice accurate and efficient lock off procedures on all electrical machinery.

  • Ensure all routine maintenance tasks are carried out in a timely fashion.

  • Liaise with all departments of the business to ensure their engineering and maintenance needs are met.

  • Call in subcontractors if required and assist them in their duties to keep the site safe and liaising with them to ensure they have the correct paperwork, permits and safety equipment to be on site.

  • Obtain quotes for work needed and follow the process through to management; sign off and job completion.

  • Ensure all work and projects are planned with all the relevant people involved.

  • Support continuous improvement projects within the Business as well as succession planning through the training of apprentices and recommend training requirements to the Factory Manager.

  • Be actively involved in the creation of risk assessments and process controls.

  • Report any damage or dangerous occurrences in a timely fashion.

Skills and Experience required:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Engineering and or Maintenance environment

  • Solid experience in a mechanical and electrical background is essential, preferably electrically bias

  • Must be able to work both day and night shifts as once the recruitment drive is complete this role will be expected to work on a rotating basis.

  • Excellent people management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate a team.

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • A good understanding of written and verbal English and numeracy

Salary : £30-35k per annum dependant on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week – (flexibility will be required)
