We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual who is self-motivated and adaptable to join the Estates and Facilities team (Technical Services). The post holder will be responsible for day to day up-keep and maintenance of Ravensbourne’s M&E assets in optimum operating condition by performing preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on building plant, machinery, fixture and fitting and building fabric. The job incumbent follows Ravensbourne’s policies and guidelines and Estate & Facilities Strategy.

The Role

This role reports to the Technical Services Manager / Assistant Technical Services Manager and sits within the busy Estate & Facilities (Technical Services) department of the University. We are a small, friendly, helpful team and we work on a wide range of Building facilities maintenance and minor projects. We support Ravensbourne’s main strategy to provide a provocative, dynamic learning environment to support the student experience.

The Candidate

You should have experience with mechanical and electrical services, fault finding and repairs to standard installations in large commercial buildings.

Experience of working in an environment in which has regular face to face engagement with building managers / stakeholders will be an advantage.

Key responsibilities

  • Carrying out scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance tasks in maintaining site assets ensuring equipment availability.
  • Ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to all building plant, equipment and systems to meet and exceed expectations, and agreed service level agreements.
  • Respond to Building Management System alarms, and effect emergency repairs as needed.
  • Identifying and estimating repair or project works, conforming to best practice and regulations
  • Issue and ensure appropriate controls within the Permit to Work systems
  • Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance of the electrical & Mechanical plant.
  • Ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are kept in the form of task sheets – hard copy or electronically as required.
  • Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and adhered to for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices
  • Ensure that engineering subcontractors are appropriately supervised, and comply with contractual commitments, and site operating processes.

Essential skills & Qualifications

Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in Building Facilities Maintenance ideally with an electrical bias and also good mechanical and Plumbing knowledge / skills therefore multi-skilled experience is desired.

  • BS 7671 - 18th Edition, The IET Wiring Regulations
  • Good experience with fault finding, testing, maintenance and repair of building electrical distribution and control systems, equipment’s
