Job Title: Multi-Skilled Building Craftsman Trust Location: Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust Location: Ormskirk & District General Hospital Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday 08:00 – 16:00 (37.5 hrs per week) Payrate: £12.25 per hour plus enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays About the Trust Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby, and West Lancashire. Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care, and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital. The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales, and the Isle of Man. What you’ll be responsible for:
  • Follow and ensure compliance with all trust procedures and policies including Health and Safety and Risk Management
  • Carry out Risk Assessments for work carried out by self
  • Liaise with Trust management, nursing personnel, and support personnel to advise on the best course of action to be taken in situations as they arise and carry out recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual / statutory / mandatory undertakings associated with delivery of a comprehensive building maintenance service
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Trust quality initiatives, procedures and policies including health and safety and risk management and all operational policies and procedures
  • Carry out the full range of building maintenance activities in accordance with relevant health technical memoranda, British standards, codes of practice and legislation You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation You’ll have the following skills/experience:
  • City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience in a maintenance service environment
  • Holds UK Driving licence
  • Computer literate
  • The post holder will be required to safely move 25kg items and use vertical ladders
  • Excellent communication skills
