The Community Impact Initiative C.I.C. (known as the Cii) is an award-winning social change organisation committed to the development, improvement, and sustainability of our communities. We’re a not-for-profit organisation that innovatively combines skill development and learning with community regeneration to achieve positive socio-economic change.

Operating across South Wales, we support people from different backgrounds to improve their health and wellbeing, build their confidence, learn new skills, achieve qualifications, and make positive life improvements through the renovation of empty properties.

Through our work we regenerate our communities, returning empty properties to the housing market, improving the living standards of our communities, and providing an affordable and effective solution to the housing and empty property issues of Wales.

The Cii seeks to appoint a Multi-Skill Construction Tutor to join our team who will support the renovation of our empty properties, whilst guiding our participants to start learning trade skills. During each property renovation our tutors support approx. 4 participants/day (15-30 participants in total over a 6-month period).

Supported by our Multi-Skill Construction Supervisor, this is an exciting and unique role to bring empty properties back to life, whilst supporting people from difficult backgrounds to build confidence and learn skills that will support their progression into employment.

Key areas of responsibility

a) Be able to competently carry out a wide range of renovation and trade activities in an empty property.

b) Plan the various renovation activities in line with overall project timescales.

c) Work alongside and supervise our trusted contractors in electrical, water and gas trades.

2.Participant support

a) Take part in participant inductions alongside our Engagement & Wellbeing Officer.

b) Alongside the tutor team, support approx. 4 participants daily to begin learning the various trade skills associated with a property renovation.

c) Adapt the speed and delivery of the activities to the requirements of the participants.

d) Patiently support each person to learn new skills, resulting in improved confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth.

e) Monitor participant attendance and feedback to Engagement & Wellbeing Officer.

f) Confidentially engage with our Engagement & Wellbeing Officer on a regular basis, providing participant progress feedback and raising any wellbeing concerns that may come to light.

3.Other

a) Demonstrate a commitment to the aims and objectives of the Cii.

b) Share our values and reflect these in your work and personal life.

c) Represent the work of the Cii at events, to members of the public and/or other stakeholders where necessary.

d) Promote and comply with the organisations policies and procedures.

e) Undertake any tasks as required by the Cii Senior Management Team.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must not only have the necessary skills and experience to carry out the job role effectively but must also share our values and be passionate in supporting the improvement of our communities.
