The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated and experienced Module Engineer with a demonstrated ability for supporting design and development projects in a fast-paced environment.

You must have a sound knowledge of engineering principles, and a demonstratable ability to successfully lead new program and design/delivery activities, including internal new product developments or customer driven applications.

Working to a range of industry standards for design, quality, and validation, you will be capable of leading the delivery of solutions backed up with a robust methodology that will keep YASA Motors at the forefront of electric motor technology in the years ahead.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Co-ordinate and guide engineers and engineering teams to achieve engineering and program deliverables
  • Programme management control and responsibility for YASA
  • Support and lead weekly alignment meeting(s) between YASA and internal/external customers
  • Responsible for post project reports and cascade to YASA management
  • Risk management
  • Problem resolution and co-ordination between Engineering and other YASA departments i.e., Quality, PM, Meng, Production and Purchasing
  • Implementation of processes and tools to drive improvements
  • Budget control for projects
  • Support customers in challenging package and integration issues with motors, controllers to provide practical solutions for the application.
  • Liaise with key suppliers and customers (including internal) on design and development issues, resolve to the optimal solution and understand the compromises.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand constraints and specify engineering design, engineering analysis, (e.g. FEA, CFD, etc.) high volume manufacturing processes and project management.
  • Provide detail input to the team to ensure overall delivery milestones are on track.
  • Identify technical opportunities and assess feasibility for YASA that may arise from new materials, processes or designs e.g.
  • Develop ideas and design / process solutions to practical challenges arising from new product design.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be considered appropriate.

The ideal candidate will:


  • Be flexible in their approach to work, desire to thrive in a dynamic and exciting fast-moving environment.
  • Be confident with customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues.
  • Have experience leading new program and engineering activities.
  • Have a strong understanding mechanical or electrical engineering background/understanding, but more importantly, be able to apply knowledge to real world situations.
  • Be a creative problem solver, with analytical approach to implementation.
  • Be familiar with FMEAs, 8Ds, robust engineering practices and supporting techniques.
  • Have strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • have a Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering with at least 10 years’ experience in a design and development environment desirable.
  • Have a UK driving licence and be available to support visits to customer & supplier sites.
