Microbiology and Toxicology Scientist

Main Purpose of the Role

Inter Scientific is involved in providing regulatory support to the; pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, vape, and food industries and we are currently expanding our services into the fields of toxicology and microbiology. As a small but rapidly growing organisation, this role is ideally suited to individuals with a strong work ethic who are looking to learn a broad range of skills in the area of microbiology and in vitro toxicology.

The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated and have an interest in personal development and learning. A degree qualification or higher is required in a sciences field (e.g microbiology or toxicology). As a new role in the company, the successful candidate will enjoy a challenge and be able to work autonomously. Industry experience in the pharmaceutical industry and in the methods of AMES, micro nuclease and NRU is essential.

The role will involve designing a testing methodology to assess the safety of client products in the respective fields/industries using best practices e.g. OECD and ICH. The role will also involve the general work within the microbiology laboratory, the procurement of materials, and the scheduling of testing along with the laboratory manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct in vitro toxicology assays, including AMES, micronucleus, and cytotoxicity testing
  • Ensure the Health & Safety of the micro-lab
  • Define and drive assay development and validation activities
  • Perform data processing
  • Interpret complex toxicology data and results
  • Work to a high standard within tight deadlines
  • Perform work within safety regulations
  • Point of contact for toxicology assay support within the company
  • Provide training and mentoring other team members in the toxicology field

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the regulatory team
  • Keep up-to-date in vitro toxicology advances and any applicable guidelines
  • Working closely with the laboratory and regulatory staff
  • Adhere to the company’s quality system
  • Adhere to national and international guidelines

Knowledge Skills and Experience:

Previous laboratory experience in performing cytotoxicity, AMES, and/or micronucleus tests
