The students have a range of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges. The school are therefore seeking someone who understands the students’ needs, empathetic but also up for a challenge!The SEMH School is situated in Westbury and is a full-time position starting as soon as possible. The school has an extremely well regarded reputation within the local community and have been commended for their inclusive and nurturing learning environment. The staff are supportive and are looking forward to having an understanding and passionate Mental Health/Wellbeing Assistant join their team.The students range from 5 to 18 and have significant developmental trauma and emotional needs. The successful Mental Health/Wellbeing assistant will therefore need to be open-minded, resilient, and determined to help others. You will need to be flexible and be able to adapt your approach to suit the needs of every child. The perfect candidate will have previous experience with SEN children and/or adults, whether it be from a professional or personal stance. Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Criminology or Counselling would also be perfect for this.This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for the successful Mental Health/Wellbeing Assistant to work with the psychologists and therapists based on-site at the SEMH School. This will allow you to gain first-hand experience with children who have significant needs and learn how to communicate with and support them.
