The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and nurturing Mental Health Support Worker to work in our Telford project to support young people to thrive both inside and outside of the classroom.

Essential

- Must have great youth work skills and have a real ability to engage disengaged learners

Rewards

- 9 weeks’ holiday per academic year to be taken during school holidays

- 45p mileage allowance per mile for work related journeys

- Outstanding CPD opportunities with first class training provided

Main Responsibilities

- Support our learners presenting with low-level mental health issues to address multiple needs which are impacting their lives

- To deliver one-to-one and group sessions with individual learners as and when it is required

- To offer support to all our young people, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

- Work closely with mental health provision in Telford in order to link individuals with more complex mental health issues to specialist services

- To support with planning and participating in Really NEET engagement activities

- To pick-up/drop-off students using your own car

- Ensure that any intervention is meaningful, respectful and promotes self-determination

- To assist in the delivery of quality on-site youth work to help all our young people to overcome multiple complex barriers to education

- To help create and maintain a safe environment for our young people where they feel confident to approach any member of staff if they have a worry or problem

- Signpost learners to appropriate specialist intervention/support provision

- To familiarise yourself with the company’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

- To provide input for educational reports and SEN paperwork when requested by SENCO

What it’s like to work for us

The Really NEET Project is a Post 16 SEN/D provision that works with 16-24 year old’s who have struggled to cope in mainstream education. Our approach is very much person-centred and based around meeting the needs of the learners. Students are taught either one-to-one or in small groups (never more than 10 students, though typically around 5), so being able to build great relationships is at the heart of what we do.

We have been operating for over 10 years and are nationally renowned for the work that we do in not only re-engaging young people back into education but for the holistic support that we offer to help our learners to remove barriers to learning, life and work.

We currently have projects in Rotherham, Barnsley, London and The Midlands.

If you want to work somewhere that values both its staff and its students, then Really NEET would welcome your application.

For more information on our organisation, please visit our website.

Please note, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils and expect all those who work with us to share this commitment. Successful applicants will need to undertake a DBS Enhanced Clearance check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
