Job title : Melter Operators & Glass Processors

Department & Location : Space Technology, Bodelwyddan

Type of Contract : Fixed Term 20 weeks, commencing July 2021

Hours of Work : Continental Shifts & 3 Shift

Shift Arrangements:

Melter Operators: Regular 12 hour working on a continental style shift pattern, on a rolling 10 days basis:

Job Outline:

Melter Operator: Operating as part of a Glass Processor: Processing of microsheet glass from

dedicated team, to ensure the production scribe through to cleaning prior to coating, within

of high quality raw space microsheet. a production flow line


Key Responsibilities:

The main duties with the Melter Operator positions will include:

  • Conducting processes which include, but may not be limited to; Packing and snapping.

The main duties with the Glass Processor positions will include:

  • Conducting of processes which include, but may not be limited to; Scribe and Break, Lehr work, Blocking and Measuring, Etching, Inking, Splitting and Cleaning of thin glass thermal treatment components.

Both roles will include:

  • Ensuring compliance of all activities in line with Health and Safety requirements.
  • Maintaining a tidy and efficient working environment.
  • To support the business needs by operating across the whole department as required and to fully participate in ongoing process/business improvement programmes.

Personal Specification:

It is essential that all candidates have the following: The following attributes are considered desirable:

- The ability to work as part of a team as well as on - Previous work experience in a manufacturing
their own. environment and previous knowledge of working with machinery

- Manual dexterity –small / fragile components. - Glass handling experience

- Knowledge of Health and Safety practices and-A mechanical or electrical background would be advantageous
procedures

  • Ability to work a shift pattern
  • A “C” Grade pass in English and Maths GCSE or
equivalent is required
