Job Title:Media & Marketing Assistant

Department/Group:Media Department and Commercial/Events Department

Responsible to:Head of Media, Press & Communications

Location:The normal place(s) of work will be:

  • Priestfield Stadium, Redfern Avenue, Gillingham, ME7 2PE (regular visits to club’s training ground also required)

Hours of Work40 hours per week, plus matchdays

The role is predominantly 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday, however it does require evening and weekend work.

Job Description

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work directly with the Head of Media, Press & Communications to support the day-to-day media and marketing of all football and non-football happenings at Gillingham Football Club
  • To liaise with the Commercial and Events Department to provide marketing support
  • To assist in the creation and delivery of media and marketing content and strategy
  • To manage social media pages, and campaigns, at the direction of the Head of department, as well as monitor social media trends to maximise engagement
  • To record social media and website analytics to assist in future strategy
  • To collaborate with GFC Business Partners to develop and implement shared marketing strategies
  • To work with all GFC departments to schedule media and marketing content
  • To update GFC websites and write engaging copy
  • To coordinate GFC matchday Legends program alongside Head of Media and Commercial and assist with family engagement initiatives
  • To work with non-traditional media outlets (i.e. podcasters, supporters clubs) when directed to ensure effective synergies with GFC
  • Take the lead on Digital Marketing projects and ensure emails are targeted to the right audiences
  • Attend press conferences and media/marketing events as instructed.
  • Attend first-team and academy fixtures as instructed for social media and website coverage

Personal Specification

  • Media and communications experience and/or marketing experience, or course of study in the same area required
  • Graphic design proficiency essential
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and basic Microsoft packages
  • Strong understanding of various social media platforms (specifically Twitter, Facebook,

Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok)

  • Team player who liaises easily with various GFC departments
  • Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator
  • Capable of efficiently working on multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to pivot and prioritise in an ever-changing work environment
  • Willing to learn new skills
  • Willing to work unsociable hours and cover all events (not just Football) for website and social platforms
  • Full driving license required with access to own transport (essential)
