HSDC is seeking to appoint a Mechanical engineering Technician in our busy Engineering team at our South Downs Campus.

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Salary: Grade 3, Spine Point 9 £20,620.91 + £1,000 Market Supplement to be review annually.

Key responsibilities:

To organise daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping. Provide assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment. For specific departments this may include work placements and instructing/directing of students. Support students with application of turning, milling and mechanical workshop techniques. To undertake reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments. Implement and maintain the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other related Health and Safety legislation and regulations. To participate in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, meetings and promotional activities as required.

Essential skills include:

  • Level 3 qualification in the relevant industrial subject area or relevant industry experience
  • Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Time management skills, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all ages and levels, verbally and in writing
