Mechanical Engineer Salary, Benefits and Hours
  • £30,000 - £40,000, dependent on experience

Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the required high technical and engineering standards are enforced and adhered to. You will have key participation in large engineering projects, both in physical size and commercially. The role includes a particular focus on ensuring compliance with the various machinery and equipment legislations, lifting requirements etc.

The Mechanical Engineer will be involved in the design and specification aspects of clients range of equipment. The role requires versatility and the use of both technical and managerial skills to fulfil an important position within the organisation.

Mechanical Engineer Candidate Requirements
  • A First-Class Mechanical Engineering Degree or similar
  • 3D Modelling
  • FEA
  • Rotating equipment design and will have good general knowledge in the areas of power transmission, industrial gearing, rolling element bearings and lubrication would be highly advantageous
  • Able to produce accurate calculations to support design and design study reports
  • Flexible with overseas travel
Mechanical Engineer Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical design of new equipment and the development of existing
  • Compile strength and loading calculations using engineering hand calculations as well as MathCAD and Microsoft Excel software to validate conceptual designs
  • Perform and understand Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assist the FEA Department when workloads necessitate this or where small components are involved. The Ansys Workbench software package is used to perform this work.
  • Provide technical support, writing of technical specifications and procedural documents to be used by client
  • Creation of three-dimensional models and design layout drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Willingness to learn the business and its product range, this may include time spent on the shop floor and visits to job sites
