Job description

Spencer Clarke Group are working closely alongside Caerphilly County Borough Council to provide them with a Mechanical Design Engineer on an ongoing contract (there is at least 2 years work available for the right candidate).

This is full time, Monday – Friday and offers a pay rate of £20 - £25 per hour. This may be negotiable dependent on experience.

This role is WFH/remote working. With the need to travel to sites around the Caerphilly area 1-2 times per week.

Start is ASAP with interviews as early as next week.

As a successful Mechanical Design Engineer, your duties will be:

  • To design Heating and Ventilation systems for schools, leisure centres, offices and other corporate/commercial buildings.
  • To provide mechanical building services technical support to Building Consultancy colleagues, building managers and budget holders
  • Manage statutory testing contracts, provide clear status reports for managers and update and interrogate the RAMIS database.
  • To produce detailed designs using specialist software including Hevacomp.

To be considered, you will have the following knowledge/experience:

  • HNC or equivalent in mechanical engineering or building services engineering.
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical services in local authority buildings
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCad, MS Word and MS Excel (Hevacomp knowledge is highly desirable)
  • Previous experience designing heating and ventilation systems for public/commercial buildings ie. Schools, leisure centres, libraries etc.
  • A thorough knowledge of gas, heating, ventilation, energy conservation & renewable energy would be desirable.
  • Previous experience working with a Local Authority is highly desirable
