About the role

We are expanding our engineering team and are seeking a mechanical design engineer with relevant technical expertise to join us and play an important role in the design and development of the Lightcast Platform. Experience designing complex, mechatronic and microfluidic instruments and consumables would be highly advantageous.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Working with development and manufacturing teams to develop and improve product designs
  • Designing new mechanical, optical and fluidic assemblies
  • Designing assembly and test systems
  • Working on human factors and DFx tasks
  • Participating in design reviews, dFMEA

Requirements

We would expect you to have:

  • Significant expertise using CAD software, including SOLIDWORKS
  • A strong technical track record in designing complex mechatronic products for manufacture, serviceability and cost
  • Experience with commercial instrument development up to and beyond product launch
  • Design experience for manufacture via a range of appropriate standard techniques, including plastic injection moulding
  • Experience working within a controlled framework to maintain good-practice design and engineering processes
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity
  • Excellent team working skills

It would be advantageous for you to have:

  • Experience designing opto-mechanics, motion control and fluidics assemblies
  • Experience maintaining a CAD Vault
  • Experience working with systems for regulated environments
  • Experience interacting with outsourced development partners
  • A track record of working in a multidisciplinary environment
