Mechanical Design Engineer required for my client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of special purpose equipment and machinery. As Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of next generation products. This highly collaborative role will use sound engineering principles and creativity to conceptualise innovative solutions to customer challenges, convert them into working prototypes, before developing and refining them into production ready designs.Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to commercial briefs for product specifications.
  • Developing innovative ideas for new products.
  • Have experience managing products/projects from concept to completion.
  • Creating engineering drawings to obtain design approval.
  • Designing new products on 3D CAD.
  • Design of fixtures and test equipment.
  • Prototyping new products as required.
  • Testing new products and using analysis to review / improve product design.
  • Ensure all processes are adhered to and documentation completed.
  • Liaison with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Verify designs with supporting documents and/or calculation.
Skills And Experience
  • Product / Mechanical Design experience
  • Designing components for plastic injection moulded components is desirable.
  • Background experience of 3D CAD is essential.
  • Experience liaising with tooling and manufacturing engineers is preferred but not essential.
  • Practical workshop experience to work on prototypes etc.
