We are looking for a Materials Test Engineer to join our expanding materials technology team - this role is based on-site in our facility in Crawley.

The Materials Test Engineer will assist in supporting the development of Bramble Energy’s core technologies through the characterisation of a variety of materials & components. The role will suit an applicant with a good background in materials research, development, testing & innovation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Carry out testing of materials and components via various measurement & characterisation techniques
  • Interpretation & reporting of experimental data results to key stakeholders
  • Plan day to day testing activities based on business priorities
  • Contribute to the creation of Bramble Energy materials knowledgebase via the processing & organisation of key datasets.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • BSc/BEng graduate with relevant industrial / academic experience or a MSc/MEng graduate in a materials engineering field
  • Solid knowledge of materials engineering
  • Experience of requirement definition & selection of materials
  • Practical experience of testing equipment such as Universal Materials Tester, Optical Microscopes etc
  • Knowledge/ experience of standard test methods (e.g. ASTM, ISO)
  • Experience of engineering test data acquisition, interpretation and presentation

Desired

  • Creation of novel test methods & associated hardware
  • Knowledge of accelerated stress testing methodologies
  • Experience of developing novel materials
  • Knowledge of surface coating and characterisation techniques
  • Knowledge of sealing & gasketing solutions
  • Familiar with post-mortem analysis, failure analysis and fault finding methodologies
  • Generation of documentation such as SOPs, RAs, SSOWs
  • Experience with fuel cells/electrolysers/battery technologies would be advantageous
