Job Summary

Site based role, Newbury, England

The primary responsibility is for the management and supervision of all aspects of materials planning and control to ensure effective processes are in place to have materials available to satisfy production and customer requirements on-time, and within market expected lead times, while optimizing inventory and cost. This includes responsibility for ensuring the maintenance of good quality materials master data, and for dynamic material planning processes that monitor consumption trends, incorporate forecasts as applicable, and adjust planning parameters as necessary to achieve the organization objectives. This position is also responsible for inventory control and accuracy, replenishment levels, dynamic warehousing solutions for physical material storage and processing, including receiving and dispatch shipping processes.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing all aspects of material planning and control to achieve production and customer on-time delivery requirements, while minimizing inventory and cost.
  • Responsible for coordinating all aspects of material flow and part delivery within the organization.
  • Create, maintain and execute material logistic strategies to manage inventory and control excess and obsolete materials.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Inventory modules of the organization’s business system.
  • Foster, develop and maintain strong, positive working relationships with the leadership team, and all employees.
  • Responsible for contract management in relation to all materials
  • Work with the Head of Supply Chain to ensure the appropriate supplies and equipment are procured within agreed upon time frames
  • Develop with the Head of Supply Chain suitable purchasing arrangement for commodities, including blanket contracts, standing orders and vendor stocking arrangements
  • Work with the MRP controllers to ensure inventory and replenishment levels are maintained and forecast to meet Customer On Time Delivery (COTD) and Market Expected Lead Times (MELT), in an efficient manner
  • Work with IT to ensure Dynamic Warehousing module is maximised
  • Ensure FIFO and other similar modules are implemented and adhered to
  • Ensure shipping team meet timelines to ship product in a timely manner and that all shipping / packing materials are available as required
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental operating and capital budgets; operates each function within the approved budget
  • Working with Supply Chain, MRP Controllers and Operations identify opportunities for Make-to-Buy modelling.
  • Coach, lead, and develop team leads and members to ensure organizational goals and objectives are met.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Materials Management, business, management or other related discipline. Masters in related field would be desirable.
  • Strong background in the management of materials and sourcing within a design and manufacturing
  • environment.
  • Experience in total quality, six sigma, or other similar environments.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills
