Based at our site in Gorton, Manchester, we manufacture frozen products for Iceland stores. This is a great opportunity for a Materials Controller to join our Supply Chain Team at an exciting time of growth within Iceland’s food manufacturing site.

An integral role within the Supply Chain team, the Material Controller will have overall responsibility of all production materials arriving from our supply base alongside exposure to procurement, planning and logistics.

Building strong relationships internally and externally will be key, alongside a keen eye for detail to ensure orders are placed within lead times to meet the production plans. The ability to challenge and influence to ensure deliveries are met on time & in full is essential. This role offers a great opportunity for someone who is looking to further their career in Supply Chain and wider manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Order materials in the most cost-efficient manner to support Purchasing on the PPV targets.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing on challenging MOQ’s/Lead times/Prices and assist with setting up supplier Consignment stocking.
  • Support/Assist New Product Development on New Item Set up on the MRP system.
  • Speak to Suppliers to build relationships and to chase/confirm orders and communicate any issues.
  • Work with the Warehouse and operate JIT delivery of materials to maximise space.
  • Support the business and attend 3PL Stock Audits.
  • Compile and submit weekly External Storage costs to Finance.
  • Work with Finance and Purchasing on any Purchase Queries.
  • Actively contribute in building the Supply Chain strategic plan in line with the IML strategy.
  • Responsible for managing the MRP input and output.
  • Analyse the production plans, compile all Raw Material and Packaging Purchase Orders and Transfer Orders then input them onto the system.
  • Work through the forward forecast and raise all Raw Material and Packaging Blanket Orders & Purchase Orders on the system.
  • Manage Blanket Orders on the system, operate good housekeeping and highlight any risks/opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Planning Manager on delists and New Launches to keep the system up to date and communicate any Risks.
  • IML NAV Super User.
  • Manage stock levels and costs to maximise working capital by continuously monitoring the system and adjusting as required.
