They determine quantity and order date for materials to meet production or engineering schedules, initiate purchase or production requisitions compliant with supply agreements, and develop the schedule to be used in the production facility based on forecasts and historical analysis. The Team develops specifications for new contract orders as well as forecasts and plans for labor requirements. They provide timely and accurate input on supplier performance and may be asked to participate in higher level supplier performance reviews with the strategic sourcing team. They also monitor cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.Reporting to the supervisor of the planning department, you will be required to tactically manage the customer order book to ensure that delivery on time to schedule and request (where possible) is met. You will be required to follow the standard of work that supports the KPIs not only for the plant but for the business unit. Using your analytical skills and MRP knowledge you will be working on stocking strategies and material flow within your value stream, to meet inventory targets. You will be required to provide monthly forecasts on Billings/ past dues to schedule, past dues to request and inventory.
  • Manage the Abnormal Demand process for your Value stream.
  • Enable and support high levels of customer service taking responsibility for Ship To Schedule /Ship To Request and Past Due Request /Past Due to Schedule
  • Predict and drive commitment to the monthly billings for your value stream.
  • Highlight and manage risks to billings and deliveries by working with key departments to resolve.
  • Leadtime management and support of maintaining lead-times needed to support market needs
  • Managing assembly production capacity, communicating any deltas and recovery plans with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend Customer calls when required.
  • NPI –Ensure SAP is updated, and plans are in place to meet new products commitments.
  • Responsible for ensuring ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) are updated in SAP and redundant stock is managed
  • Responsible for managing inventory levels and increasing stock turns within value stream
  • Run a Monthly Audit on Production orders and tidy up any old production sheets.
  • Responsible for ensuring we meet plan and making recommendations to hold stock to meet plans.
  • Active member of value stream team and supports execution of all key metrics
  • To determine the allocation of stock orders in the knowledge of differing priorities.
  • Work with Sales to ensure they have uploaded forecasts for long build programs.
  • Communicating with Customer Services and Product Managers on supply delays and recovery plans.
  • Responsible for closing old production orders in a timely manner.
  • To control and action, alongside production the handling of customer returns to ensure complaints / re-manufacture is handled with speed and efficiencies.
  • Responsible for allocating and placing orders for delivery to customers in SAP.
  • To receive progress enquiries from Sales, investigate lead-time that is achievable so that the order may be obtained.
  • Provide the Planning Manager with relevant strategic information as and when required.
  • Observe and comply with Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and legislation.
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as directed by the business from time to time.
What Your Background Should Look Like
  • A good standard of education is required, preferably GCSE.
  • Extensive use of SAP;
  • Experience in Production Control and/or materials planning and experience of a computerised MRP system is essential
  • Computer literate; ability to use varying internal systems.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of concentration, accuracy and attention to detail when under pressure.
  • Recommend best work practices and improvements to the appropriate persons.
  • Must be able to think creatively and logically and be able to work in detail without supervision.
  • Ability to problem solve is a key skill for this role.
  • Maintain customer service and negotiate delivery dates when needed.
